Okay, adventure junkies, listen up! Pilot Peak in Yosemite National Park is calling your name! Perched right on the border of Mariposa and Tuolumne counties in California, this peak hits an impressive 6,013 feet.

Getting there is half the fun โ€“ Forest Road 2S04 is a completely unpaved path that winds its way to the top, but be warned: you'll need a 4x4 to tackle this beast! Itโ€™s usually closed from mid-December to mid-April, so plan accordingly.

This 1.36-mile climb is a leg burner, gaining almost 650 feet in elevation with some seriously steep sections hitting a 12% grade. At the summit, you're rewarded with killer views and a fire lookout tower. This drive to Columbia Ridge is wild! Just remember to breathe and enjoy the ride.

Okay, picture this: You're cruising through the Andes on the Carretera Central in Peru. This bad boy stretches for about 220 km (137 miles), linking Lima to La Oroya. We're talking serious elevation changes, climbing from almost sea level in Lima to over 4800 meters (nearly 16,000 feet!) at Ticlio Pass โ€“ so get ready for some potential altitude sickness. The views? Absolutely epic. Think snow-capped peaks, dramatic valleys, and tiny villages clinging to the mountainsides. But hold on tight โ€“ this isn't a Sunday drive. Expect hairpin turns that'll make your stomach flip, narrow lanes barely wider than your rental car, and the occasional truck barreling towards you. Oh, and landslides and rockfalls are a real possibility, especially during the rainy season. Keep your eyes peeled and your wits about you! This road is truly an unforgettable experience.

Okay, folks, buckle up for Mount Pisgah in Colorado's Teller County! This peak sits pretty high up, offering some killer views. You'll find it south of Denver, nestled on the west side of a seriously scenic area. Now, heads up: the road to the top is Mount Pisgah Road (aka County Route 10) and it's all dirt. You'll definitely want 4x4 to tackle this one. It's a bit of a squeeze with not much room to pass, so keep an eye out for oncoming traffic. Also, this is private land with no public access. The climb is steep, kicking off from the paved portion of Teller County Road 81. It's about 3.5 miles to the summit, and you'll be gaining a hefty 1,700 feet in elevation. Thatโ€™s an average grade of around 9.3%, so get ready for a workout!

You'll definitely need a 4x4 for this one. It's how you get down to Lake Mohave from the Mead-Davis Powerline Road. The views are awesome! Just be prepared for a bit of a bumpy ride.

Lolo Pass on Montana-Idaho border: curves next 99 miles

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Usa

Lolo Pass, straddling the Montana and Idaho border, is a must-drive at 5,242 feet above sea level. This 134-mile stretch of Highway 12 (aka the Lewis and Clark Highway) from Lolo, Montana, to Kooskia, Idaho, carves its way through the stunning Bitterroot Range in the northern Rockies. Get ready for a wild ride! This fully paved road is famous for its endless curves (you've probably seen the "Curves next 99 miles" sign!). While the road surface is excellent and traffic is usually light, don't get complacent. With few guardrails and services, plus some seriously sharp turns that sneak up on you, it demands your full attention. The speed limit hovers around 50 mph, and passing opportunities are limited, so settle in and enjoy the ride. Give yourself around 3 hours to soak it all in. Expect breathtaking scenery, from lush meadows to towering mountain peaks and dense forests. You're basically retracing the steps of Lewis and Clark as you wind through this gorgeous part of the Rocky Mountains. This high mountain road is located in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest and was completed in 1962.
